Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Recall the anatomy of the shoulder including bones, muscles, tendons and ligaments

  • Identify the injury patterns that lead to shoulder dislocation

  • Recall that glenohumeral pathology is found after a shoulder dislocation

  • Recall the on-field assessment of an athlete with a dislocated shoulder and common reduction techniques

  • Identify post-injury management including the operative/non-operative algorithm
